The number stamped on the part is 23231224365; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1224365. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Manual gearbox parts. It supersedes the older number 1224367, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan and coupe (316i, 1999–2004), with the M43, N40, N42 or N45 engines.
BMW draws it on 75 diagrams, among them S5D...G countershaft/reverse gear (23_0224) and S5D...G drive shaft/output shaft (23_0225).
