This is a genuine BMW blind plug, part number 51 71 8 226 004. The number stamped on the part is 51718226004; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8226004. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older number 0153051, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 compact (318ti, 1995–1999), with the M42 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe, touring and compact (320i, 323i and 325i, 1999–2006), with the M52, M54 or M56 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 25 diagrams, among them Sealing cap/plug (51_3286) and Sealing cap/plug (51_3757).
