Bracket, final drive — a genuine BMW part, number 33 17 2 228 147. The number stamped on the part is 33172228147; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2228147. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Other Rear Axle parts. It supersedes the older number 2228148, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and convertible (M3, 1996–1999), with the S50 engine.

BMW draws it on the Final Drive Cover/Trigger Contact (33_0528) diagram. It weighs about 1.2 kg (2.7 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
