Bracket Oil Pipe — a genuine BMW part, number 17 20 1 712 209. The number stamped on the part is 17201712209; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1712209. You will find it on our Cooling System shelf, under Expansion tank.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (M3, 1995–1999), with the S50 engine — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 coupe and convertible (M3, 2001–2006), with the S54 engine.

BMW draws it on 23 diagrams, among them Engine Oil Cooling (17_0059) and Engine Oil Cooling (17_0062). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted.
