This is a genuine BMW bulb, part number 63 21 7 160 779. The number stamped on the part is 63217160779; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7160779. You will find it on our Lighting shelf, under Rear lights. It supersedes the older numbers 1386816 and 9978391, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits the E46 compact (316ti, 318td, 318ti, 320td and 325ti, 2001–2004), with the M47N, M54, N40, N42, N45 or N46 engines.
BMW draws it on 46 diagrams, among them Fog lamp M-Technik (63_0756) and Installing set additional headlight (03_2138). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Installing Set Fog Lamps Black (1365876) and Installing Set Fog Lamps (1368835).
