It fits the E36 compact (318ti, 1995–1999), with the M44 engine — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 compact (316ti, 318td, 318ti, 320td and 325ti, 2001–2004), with the M47N, M54, N40, N42, N45 or N46 engines.
BMW draws it on 11 diagrams, among them Single Components for Trunk Lid (41_1615) and Trim panel, trunk lid (51_2181). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted.
