03 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW chain, part number 27 72 2 345 586. The number stamped on the part is 27722345586; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2345586. It supersedes the older number 2345356, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Chain drive (33_1640) diagram. It weighs about 1.7 kg (3.7 lb).
