Clamp — a genuine BMW part, number 12 42 7 840 406. The number stamped on the part is 12427840406; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7840406. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 1355966, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan (320i and 325i, 1992–1995), with the M50 engine.

BMW draws it on 65 diagrams, among them Transmission mounting parts (24_0633) and Oil Pan/Oil Level Indicator (11_1245). It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
