This is a genuine BMW compression spring, part number 18 11 2 242 656. The number stamped on the part is 18112242656; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2242656. You will find it on our Exhaust shelf, under Other Exhaust system parts. It supersedes the older number 2241425, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan and touring (325td and 325tds, 1991–1996), with the M51 engine.
BMW draws it on 7 diagrams, among them Turbo Charger with Lubrication (11_4361) and Exhaust Pipe/Muffler (18_0185). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 30 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Set Mounting Parts Short Engine (9066430) and Set Mounting Parts Short Engine (9070620).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
