This is a genuine BMW control unit, part number 13 61 8 522 506. The number stamped on the part is 13618522506; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8522506. You will find it on our Air Intake shelf, under Electronic control unit. It supersedes the older number 7729994, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Control unit (13_1660) diagram. It weighs about 570 g (1.3 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Set, 1-key locking inc. BMSK ECU (code) (8528836) and Set keys inc. BMSK ECU (code) (8528839).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
