Genuine BMW part 71 60 6 874 848: Control unit, trailer tow hitch. The number stamped on the part is 71606874848; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 6874848. You will find it on our Tools shelf, under Other Equipment Parts parts. It supersedes the older numbers 6872319 and 6875529, so a part carrying any of them is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 6879426.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 10 diagrams, among them Retrofit kit, tow hitch, electr. pivoted (03_1064) and Trailer tow hitch, electrically pivoted (71_0522). It weighs about 180 g (0.4 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
