This is a genuine BMW covering cap, part number 51 18 1 813 017. The number stamped on the part is 51181813017; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1813017. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older numbers 0141081 and 0149133, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 186 diagrams, among them Trunk Lid/Closing System (41_0025) and Trunk Lid/Closing System (41_0810). It also comes in BMW kit Set mounting parts (9059461).
