The number stamped on the part is 24401216837; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1216837. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 1216183, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M50, M52, S50 or S52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (320i, 323i and 325i, 1999–2006), with the M52 or M54 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 8 diagrams, among them Flywheel automatic (11_1152) and Flywheel automatic (11_2323). It weighs about 410 g (0.9 lb).
