The number stamped on the part is 24001217411; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1217411. BMW's catalog calls it “Exch. automatic transmission”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 1216911, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1217403.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Automatic gearbox 4HP22 (24_0048) diagram. It weighs about 64 kg (142 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
