The number stamped on the part is 27107573222; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7573222. BMW's catalog calls it “Exch.-AUXILIARY TRANSMISSION”. You will find it on our Drivetrain & Axle shelf, under Mounting / suspension. It supersedes the older number 3435185, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 3455139.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Transfer case ATC 400 (27_0018) and Single parts f transfer case ATC 400 (27_0027). It weighs about 23 kg (51 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
