Clutch Disk asbestos-free (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 21 21 1 223 566. The number stamped on the part is 21211223566; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1223566. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH-Clutch Disk asbestos-free”. You will find it on our Clutch & Flywheel shelf, under Clutch with drive plate. It supersedes the older numbers 1223205 and 1223561, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 1992–1999), with the M40 or M43 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 6 diagrams, among them Clutch (21_0008) and Clutch (21_0011). It weighs about 1.3 kg (2.8 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Set Clutch Parts (1223569).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
