The number stamped on the part is 33211227606; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1227606. BMW's catalog calls it “Exch. output shaft ABS”. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Other Rear Axle parts. It supersedes the older numbers 1227597 and 1229392, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (318i and 320i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Output shaft (33_0468) diagram. BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 5.4 kg (12 lb).
