Genuine BMW part 12 31 1 268 678: Fan belt. The number stamped on the part is 12311268678; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1268678. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Alternator with motor and mounting. It supersedes the older numbers 1254122, 1469231 and 9990150, so a part carrying any of them is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1276306.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Alternatormounting Parts (12_0126) and Fan Belt (12_0149). It weighs about 70 g (0.2 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
