This is a genuine BMW gasket left, part number 11 12 1 725 003. The number stamped on the part is 11121725003; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1725003. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Cylinder head with cover. It supersedes the older number 1715745, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Cylinder head cover (11_1153) and Cylinder head cover (11_1155). It weighs about 140 g (0.3 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Gasket set cylinder head asbestos free (9059239) and Gasket set cylinder head asbestos free (9068137).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
