This is a genuine BMW gasket ring, part number 13 11 1 257 819. The number stamped on the part is 13111257819; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1257819. It supersedes the older number 1461262, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 8 diagrams, among them Carburetor Cap/Piston/Starter Housing (13_0462) and Carburetor Cap/Piston/Starter Housing (13_0463). It weighs about 1 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Gasket Set Carburettor (1258051) and Gasket Set Carburettor (1336902).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
