12 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW hexagon screw with flange, part number 51 71 8 186 992. The number stamped on the part is 51718186992; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8186992. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older number 0153091, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 3428482.
It fits the E46 coupe (M3, 2003), with the S54 engine.
BMW draws it on 3 diagrams, among them Engine Hood/Mounting Parts (41_2064) and Earth strap for engine hood (65_0207). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
