Hose elbow — a genuine BMW part, number 13 53 1 438 216. The number stamped on the part is 13531438216; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1438216. You will find it on our Air Intake shelf, under Injector nozzles and lines. It supersedes the older number 1247933, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 1992–1999), with the M43 engine — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe and touring (316i, 316i 1.6, 316i 1.9 and 318i, 1997–2001), with the M43 engine.

BMW draws it on 5 diagrams, among them Fuel injection system/Injection valve (13_0403) and Fuel injection system/Injection valve (13_0637). BMW's catalog calls for four of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 8 g (under 0.1 lb).
