Genuine BMW part 51 71 8 146 386: Inner right rear cover. The number stamped on the part is 51718146386; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8146386. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older number 8146574, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 compact (318ti, 1995–1999), with the M42 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Single Components for Body-Side Frame (41_0856) and Lateral trim panel rear (51_2169). It weighs about 881 g (1.9 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
