18 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW insulation sleeve, part number 12 12 1 736 142. The number stamped on the part is 12121736142; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1736142. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Ignition lead, spark plugs. It supersedes the older number 1718734, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan (318i, 1992–1998), with the M40 engine — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them ignition wiring/sparkplug (12_0037) and ignition wiring/sparkplug (12_0052). BMW lists the quantity used as “as required”.
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
