02 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW label "Key Memory", part number 71 23 6 960 712. The number stamped on the part is 71236960712; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 6960712. You will find it on our Tools shelf, under Other Equipment Parts parts. It supersedes the older number 6941047, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 9178687.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them One-key locking (41_1640) and Radio remote control / ELV (41_1809).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
