Genuine BMW part 54 31 8 401 029: Left folding top lock. The number stamped on the part is 54318401029; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8401029. You will find it on our Exterior Body shelf, under Other Sliding Roof / Folding Top parts. It supersedes the older number 8398773, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 8411127.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on the Folding top (54_0193) diagram. It weighs about 462 g (1.0 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
