The number stamped on the part is 51211823223; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1823223. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older number 1801353, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1844093 and 1844094.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Front Door-Hinge/Door Brake (41_1186) and Rear door, hinge/door brake (41_1195). It weighs about 114 g (0.3 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
