The number stamped on the part is 65138357673; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8357673. You will find it on our Instruments & Electronics shelf, under Navigation system. It supersedes the older number 1393472, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 8357671.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and convertible (318i, 320i, 325i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M50 or S50 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Single Components HIFI System (65_0201) and Single Components HIFI System (65_0425). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 272 g (0.6 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
