Manual folding top — a genuine BMW part, number 54 34 8 169 857. The number stamped on the part is 54348169857; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8169857. You will find it on our Exterior Body shelf, under Other Sliding Roof / Folding Top parts. It supersedes the older number 8170254, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 8215975.

It fits the E36 convertible (318i, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1994–1999), with the M43, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on the Manual/Electromech.Semiautom.Folding Top (54_0180) diagram. It weighs about 39 kg (86 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
