Genuine BMW part 24 13 1 218 848: O-ring. The number stamped on the part is 24131218848; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1218848. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gearbox emergency release.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan (316i 1.9 and 318i, 1997–2001), with the M43 engine.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them A4S 270R/310R output (24_0802) and A4S 270R/310R output (24_1301). It weighs about 1 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Gasket set (1218856).
