Original BMW battery, filled — a genuine BMW part, number 61 21 8 381 714. The number stamped on the part is 61218381714; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8381714. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Battery with holder. It supersedes the older numbers 8381717 and 9069237, so a part carrying any of them is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 2158122.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, touring and compact (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 and other engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 27 diagrams, among them Battery (61_0065) and Battery, empty (61_0141). It weighs about 18 kg (40 lb).
