This is a genuine BMW plaque, part number 52 53 7 686 463. The number stamped on the part is 52537686463; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7686463. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Seat bench. It supersedes the older number 2325185, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 10 diagrams, among them Luggage carrier (46_0260) and Luggage grid set/single parts (46_0381). It also comes in BMW kit Set luggage carrier (2337056).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
