This is a genuine BMW plate, part number 31 33 1 096 068. The number stamped on the part is 31331096068; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1096068. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Other Front Axle parts. It supersedes the older number 1090609, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 6 diagrams, among them Guide Support/Spring Pad/Attaching Parts (31_0246) and Guide Support/Spring Pad/Attaching Parts (31_0396). It weighs about 60 g (0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Repair kit, support bearing (2298912) and Repair kit, support bearing (2311768).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
