Protective tire cover — a genuine BMW part, number 71 12 1 182 667. The number stamped on the part is 71121182667; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1182667. You will find it on our Tools shelf, under Other Equipment Parts parts. It supersedes the older number 0027328, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 compact (318ti, 1995–1999), with the M42 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 compact (316ti, 318ti, 320td and 325ti, 2001–2002), with the M47N, M54, N40 or N42 engines.
BMW draws it on 6 diagrams, among them Tool kit/Tool box (71_0117) and Tool kit/Lifting jack (71_0122). It weighs about 90 g (0.2 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
