The number stamped on the part is 66126959044; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 6959044. You will find it on our Instruments & Electronics shelf, under Radio-controlled locking system. It supersedes the older numbers 0396044 and 6941449, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Radio remote control (41_1417) diagram. It weighs about 20 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Set of keys with CAS control unit (0030318) and Set of keys with CAS control unit (0030633) and 10 more.
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
