The number stamped on the part is 66129259715; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9259715. You will find it on our Instruments & Electronics shelf, under Radio-controlled locking system. It supersedes the older numbers 2163717, 2296796 and 9247293, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 3 diagrams, among them Radio remote control (41_1898) and Radio remote control (41_2028). It weighs about 30 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Set of keys with CAS control unit (0037275) and Set of keys PCA with CAS control unit (0037280) and 8 more.
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
