Genuine BMW part 51 24 7 840 623: Rear window lock. The number stamped on the part is 51247840623; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7840623. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older number 8218849, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E46 touring (323i and 325i, 2000–2005), with the M52, M54 or M56 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Trunk Lid/Closing System (41_1319) and Trunk Lid/Rear Window (41_1320). It weighs about 170 g (0.4 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
