This is a genuine BMW relay starter motor, part number 61 31 1 244 019. The number stamped on the part is 61311244019; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1244019. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Switch. BMW has since replaced it with 1391397.
It fits the E36 sedan and coupe (318i, 320i, 325i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M50 or S50 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Relay, diode relay (61_4506) diagram. It weighs about 33 g (under 0.1 lb).
