This is a genuine BMW remote thermometre sending unit, part number 12 62 1 747 281. The number stamped on the part is 12621747281; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1747281. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. BMW has since replaced it with 1710535.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 325i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M50 or S50 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 25 diagrams, among them Cylinder head attached parts (11_1281) and Cylinder head Vanos (11_1282). It weighs about 24 g (under 0.1 lb).
