Genuine BMW part 52 10 8 189 604: Right gas pressurized spring. The number stamped on the part is 52108189604; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8189604. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Tail trim. It supersedes the older number 8164893, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, touring and compact (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M42, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Front Seat Rail Mechanical/Single Parts (52_0621) and Front Seat Rail (52_0622). It weighs about 536 g (1.2 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
