Ring — a genuine BMW part, number 32 31 1 162 057. The number stamped on the part is 32311162057; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1162057. You will find it on our Steering shelf, under Other Steering parts. It supersedes the older number 1156027, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 325i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M50, M52 or S50 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 22 diagrams, among them Steering Lock/Ignition Switch (32_0703) and Steering Lock/Ignition Switch (32_0837). It weighs about 2 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
