The number stamped on the part is 23317539086; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7539086. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Inner gearshift parts. It supersedes the older number 1224395, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan and coupe (316i, 1999–2004), with the M43, N40, N42 or N45 engines.
BMW draws it on 80 diagrams, among them S5D...G inner gear shifting parts (23_0129) and S5D...G inner gear shifting parts (23_0228). BMW's catalog calls for four of these at each place it is fitted.
