Genuine BMW part 23 22 1 282 571: Roller cage. The number stamped on the part is 23221282571; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1282571. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gear wheels. It supersedes the older number 1228341, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan and coupe (316i, 1999–2004), with the M43, N40, N42 or N45 engines.

BMW draws it on 5 diagrams, among them S5D...G drive shaft/output shaft (23_0225) and S5D...G drive shaft/output shaft (23_0719). It weighs about 30 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
