Rubber buffer — a genuine BMW part, number 51 16 8 151 989. The number stamped on the part is 51168151989; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8151989. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Mirrors, trims, storage compartments. It supersedes the older number 0301018, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan and coupe (318i, 320i, 325i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M50 or S50 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 6 diagrams, among them Glove Box (51_3079) and Glove Box (51_3080). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It also comes in BMW kit Retrofit Business package (2220083).
