This is a genuine BMW screw plug, part number 11 12 7 568 308. The number stamped on the part is 11127568308; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7568308. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Cylinder head with cover. It supersedes the older number 7501435, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 8648649.

It fits every E46 body style (316i, 316ti, 318i and 318ti, 2001–2004), with the N40, N42, N45 or N46 engines.

BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Cylinder head (11_3177) and Cylinder head (11_3381). It weighs about 20 g (under 0.1 lb).
