Securing plate — a genuine BMW part, number 51 23 1 864 963. The number stamped on the part is 51231864963; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1864963. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older number 1868799, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 9934915.

It fits the E46 convertible (323i, 325i, 330i and M3, 2000–2006), with the M52, M54 or S54 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 42 diagrams, among them Folding top compartment lid (41_1348) and Timing gear - cam shaft/chain drive (11_1774). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 2 g (under 0.1 lb).
