The number stamped on the part is 23311282556; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1282556. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Inner gearshift parts. It supersedes the older numbers 1224928 and 1224947, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M50, M52, S50 or S52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits every E46 body style (325xi, 328i and 330i, 1999–2006), with the M52 or M54 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 5 diagrams, among them S5D...Z inner gear shifting parts (23_0229) and S5D...Z inner gear shifting parts (23_1139). It weighs about 184 g (0.4 lb).
