Genuine BMW part 11 31 7 715 302: Set, decompression lever. The number stamped on the part is 11317715302; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7715302. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under CAMSHAFT. It supersedes the older number 8540965, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Timing gear - cam shaft/chain drive (11_2938) diagram. It weighs about 27 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
