This is a genuine BMW set oil filter, part number 24 11 7 557 070. The number stamped on the part is 24117557070; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7557070. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gearbox housing, oil sump. It supersedes the older number 7533699, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E46 body style (320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and 330i, 1999–2006), with the M52 or M54 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them A5S360R/390R oil pan/oil strainer (24_0996) and A5S360R/390R oil pan/oil strainer (24_1616). It weighs about 790 g (1.7 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Fluid filter kit, autom. transmission (2333824).
