Snow chain system Rud-Matic — a genuine BMW part, number 85 51 9 409 770. The number stamped on the part is 85519409770; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9409770. You will find it on our Instruments & Electronics shelf, under Other Complete wheel and tyre sets parts. It supersedes the older numbers 9401499 and 9413741, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (318i, 320i, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 6 diagrams, among them Snow chains (03_2875) and Snow chains (03_2878). It weighs about 5.7 kg (13 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
